Karl: "Well, Dominik and myself write the majority of music, the riffs etc, but Rob is really good at arrangements and also comes up with ideas for riffs. Rob also writes all the lyrics for the band too and does a great job at expressing his views on current events that are easy to grasp and identify with.
There isn’t really a leader in the writing process so to speak and I think we all get inspiration from each other when it comes to writing songs. If Dom writes and awesome riff, then I want to write an equally awesome riff to go with it, and vice versa.
We all want to write the best music possible and that’s always the main goal when we write and album.".

Deus: Кто в группе главный по музыкальной части? Кто лидер и вдохновитель всей команды?

Karl: "Доминик и я пишем большую часть. Роб хорошо делает аранжировки и тоже приносит ходы. Роб пишет все слова и приносит идеи насчет музыки или песен. У нас нет формального лидера кто пишет и делает все подряд. Мы все хотим сделать лучшее что мы можем, и это всегда наша главная задача на альбоме.".

Deus: How do you record music in the studio? How do you record drums? how many mics do you have? do you compress them? Do you play live in the studio?

Karl: "Looking for some secret tips huh? Haha. Well, we record all instruments separately, so first we’ll do drums, then Rhythm guitar tracks, then solo guitar tracks, then bass tracks and then lastly the vocals. The drums are recorded with a guide guitar which is just Dom or myself playing along. It is not the end guitar track that will be on the album, it’s just there for a guide for the drums. Drums are just miced and recorded, not sure how many mics though, but I guess around 12 – 15, which includes a couple of room mics to pick up some different vibes too. I’m not sure if they’re compressed or what is done in the mixing stage with them. I’m sure there are a few tricks up Tue Madsen’s sleeves, since he always gets killer drum sounds.".

Deus: Как вы пишитесь на студии? Кто из группы руководит записью помимо саунд-продюссера?

Karl: "Хотите узнать пару секретов?? Гыгыы.. Ну мы все пишем отдельно и по порядку. Ударка пишется в чистую напрямую в пульт. 12-15 микрофонов включая оверхеды и пару на комнату чтобы взять звук комнаты. Я не знаю, что потом делает звукореж с ними. Я думаю у него есть свои фишки..".

Deus: What is harder to record? Drums, vocals or guitars/bass?

Karl: "That’s a tough question really. I guess it depends on what your goals are for each instrument and what results you want, how perfect you want everything etc. In all honesty, I’m not sure since everything always seems to go pretty smoothly when we record.".
